H.E VIPUL

Ambassador of India to Qatar

Qatar Indian School Youth Festival (Kalanjali), an inter-school youth festival for Indian schools in Qatar, is an innovative idea introduced for the first time in Qatar in 2019 by MediaPen, in association with Radio Malayalam 98.6. The festival is intended to foster creativity through art and culture and to provide a platform to students to showcase their talents beyond the conventional academic setting. Art, in all forms, holds a remarkable power to inspire creativity within us. India’s cultural heritage, in particular, provides a rich source of inspiration and encourages children to think outside the box and explore new ideas.
I appreciate the attempt of MediaPen through ‘Kalanjali’, to develop healthy competition among school students by hosting this inter-school competition of music, art, dance and literary items. I had the opportunity to witness the recently concluded Kalanjali 2023 edition, from January 9 to 11, 2024, showcasing the vibrant cultural skills of Indian school students in Qatar. I am happy to note that about 2000 students took part in 72 events in this year’s “Kalanjali”. I take this opportunity to laud all Indian schools who participated and congratulate MES Indian School who won the overall championship for a second consecutive year at Kalanjali 2023.

The Embassy of India attaches great importance to cultural festivals and programs and will continue to do so. I convey my best wishes to MediaPen in serving Indian schools and student community in Qatar.

I wish Kalanjali all success in the years to come!
